Reference ranges for plasma creatinine during the first month of life.
نویسندگان
چکیده
A reference range of plasma creatinine levels for the first month of life derived from 238 babies of 25-42 weeks' gestation is presented. Measurements were performed on a Beckman Creatinine Analyser 2, which uses the Jaffé rate reaction method. There was a decline in plasma creatinine level with increasing postnatal and gestational age. Infants undergoing mechanical ventilation at age 2 days had a significantly increased creatinine level.

In order to have reliable reference ranges and to minimize the effects of variables such as the procedure of specimen collection, geographical location, dietary habits, life style and possible errors during the performance of tests, it is recommended that each medical laboratory establish it's own reference values. Idealy, the reference ranges Should be determined by analysis of specimens from...

متن کاملTrimester-Specific Reference Ranges for Free Thyroxine Hormone in Iranian Pregnant Women
Introduction: Physiological changes during pregnancy affect thyroid function and also free thyroxine (FT4) assay methods. These impacts make immunoassays unreliable for detecting hypothyroxinemia during pregnancy. Due to pregnant women’s adequate consumption of iodine in Iran, reference ranges of FT4 needs to be obtained for this group. Materials and Methods: A total of 1077 Iranian pregnant wo...
متن کاملAge- and sex-related reference ranges for eight plasma constituents derived from randomly selected adults in a Scottish new town.
The results of analysis of blood specimens from randomly selected adults aged 19-88 years in the new town of Cumbernauld were used to establish age- and sex-related reference ranges by the centile method (central 95%) for plasma calcium, phosphate, total protein, albumin, globulins, urea, creatinine, and urate. The possible existence of a subpopulation with a higher reference range for urea is ...

AIM To evaluate whether the urinary creatinine concentration is a reliable reference value to standardise urinary solute excretion in a spot urine sample during the first week of life. METHODS Spontaneously voided urine specimens were obtained in 48 healthy, full term neonates, aged 1 to 6 days (median 2.4) and in 168 healthy older children with a median age of 1.5 years (range 1 month to 3 y...
